STEP 1
We will start our trip with the discovery of South and Eastern Africa (Sept 08 to Dec. 08):
- Road trip across South Africa for 20 days with a rental car, from Johannesburg to Cape Town
- Overland trip with the travel agency "Africa Travel & Co". For 36 days we will travel through Namibia, Bostwana, Zambia, Malawi and Tanazania with a group of other travellers
- Volontunterring in Mali for 5 weeks
- Christmas in family in Senegal for a week
Then South America (Jan 09 to May 09):
- January 09: 4 weeks of volunteering work in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Delphine will help making up costumes and organising the Carnaval for a Samba school. Laurent will work in a community centre for youngsters from the favelas.
- February 09: Visit the North East coast of Brazil during 3 weeks, from Rio to the paradise of Jericoacoara, while passing by Salvador de Bahia and Fortaleza
- End of February 09: Back to Rio for the Carnival 2009 during one week
- March 09: Backpacking trip in Argentina during 5 weeks. Buenos Aires during 10 days, and then backpacking through Patagonia for 3 weeks
- April - June - mid July 09: Back to Brazil for 3 months. After a passage to the Iguazu falls, we return into Brazil and follow up the coast up to North: Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Sao Paulo, Rio, El Salvador,…, Belem,… then Amazonia around Manaus.
- End of July 09: Backpacking in Peru during two weeks.
- August-September 09: Volunteering work in Peru. To be defined.
- October 09: Backpacking through Bolivia and Chile during 5 weeks
- Beginning of November 09: Departure for New Zealand
Central America:
- CANCELLED due to budget restriction (the £££ lost 30%…)
Pacific Ilands (Nov 09 to Feb 10):
- November - mid December 09: Backpacking through New Zealand for 6 weeks. Maybe volunteering work in the environment field. To be defined
- Mid January 9, 10 December: Holidays during 6 weeks with the family of Laurent in Noumea, New Caledonia
STEP 2
Working in Australia for a year (Feb 10 to Feb 11):
Our project is to settle down in Sydney and get some work to fund our living and the 3rd year of our trip.
Being French we will be able to work without a specific working Visa for a period of one year and before our 31st birthday - September 2010 for old Delphine.
Laurent intends to work as a Consulting Engineer in building services while Delphine to work in a financial or cultural organisation.
During this second year we will take the opportunity to visit this amazing and vast territory.
STEP 3
Asia (Feb 11 to ... ):
In February 2011, with hopefully a bank account back to comfortable level, we will put our backpacks back up and leave to discover the Asian continent. We have not detailed yet the contents of our expediation and will work on it on the next two years. We have yet already thought of the following:
- Backpacking in South East Asia
- Discovery of China
- Volunteering projects in Vietnam, Birmania, India
- Trecking in Nepal, Tibet
We have organised our project in 3 stages:
- 1st year and half : Africa, South and Central America, Pacific Islands (16 months)
- 2nd year : Australia "Work & Travel" (12 months)
- 3rd year : Asia (12 months)
Revision 1 of March 8th 2009 :
The magic of traveling is the feeling of freedom. Feeling free to travel, free to go anywhere we like, free to change our plans at anytime. We loved our two months spent in Brazil at the beginning of the year, and decided to go back, to spend more time exploring this country 16 times larger than France!
On another hand we had to remove our trip to Central America, due to the fall of the pound sterling and our narrowed budget.
